However, as they say, “a new dawn always follows the dark night”, we have some really good news to share with you - the Indian Tourist Visa is now yet again available to the seeking tourist. The guests who intend to visit India for tourism can apply for a tourist visa and obtain the same. This is incredible news for all of us in the travel fraternity. The tourist visa can be applied 120 days before your date of arrival in India.


The countdown has just begun for everyone who wishes to cherish and behold the magnanimous aura of an Indian vacation that brings to the fore the country’s intrigues, charm and rich diversity.

The Indian visa situation is constantly evolving, and, we shall surely update this blog to reflect the same. So, do refer to this blog before you embark upon a tourist visa application to India. The tourist visa is eligible to the applicant for recreation, sightseeing, casual visit to meet friends and relatives, attending a short-term yoga program, etc. 


 Pre-departure information you need to bear in mind before applying for the Indian tourist Visa.


The Tourist Visa to India is currently available for 30 days and permits a single entry or visit to India. This means that if you are combining your travels to India with another country, you may choose to visit that country after your travels in India and then exit from that country without reentering India. Alternatively, you may visit the other country first, and then arrive into India for your tours before finally departing from an Indian port . The visa regulation does not inhibit us from planning your vacation in countries outside of India. We are only sharing Indian tourist visa protocols here. 


a.       E-Visa 

 The application for a tourist e-visa can be submitted at . The government has notified these countries as eligible for tourist e-visas (SEE IMAGE 01). This is a dynamic list and it is expected that more countries would be added to this list in the near future.

b.      Paper visa

 In case, your country is not mentioned above in the listed countries eligible for tourist e-visas, you simply need to apply at the Indian embassy, High Commission or consulate office near you or through any of their designated agents. You would receive detailed guidance from the said office.

B.  Flights - To maintain international connectivity till regular flights are restored, the Indian Government proactively engaged in air bubble agreements with many airlines, airports, and countries the world over (See Image 02). Several flights are arriving from global destinations into various airports in India. This process is being continually expanded and there would be no flight connectivity related issues in achieving your return travels to India.

C. Covid Related Pre-Departure Protocols                   

1. Travellers should be fully vaccinated by a WHO-approved vaccine (SEE IMAGE 03).  Also; 15 days should have elapsed from the finally completed vaccination shot. Please do carry your fully vaccinated certificates with you for verification by Indian health authorities. 


2. An RTPCR test needs to undertake 72 hours before your fight date.


3. Complete the self-declaration form and upload the negative RTPCR test report as mentioned in point 2 on the Indian health ministry available on the AirSuvidha website .


4. You may track your Application Status online at the link mentioned in point 3. Once you receive an approval/acknowledgment, do take a printout of the completed Form/acknowledgment, etc. & keep it with you and submit the same for verification to the Indian health authorities upon your arrival at the Indian airport.
