The Indian visa situation is constantly evolving (like the rest of the world) while we still live in a covid world. We will be updating this page regularly with the latest visa and entry rules for India.

Not only that, travellers from most countries do not even need to have a negative PCR test report before boarding a flight to India. A WHO approved fully vaccinated certificate is good enough to arrive and fall in love with India. We guess that India and her varied intrigues are only a wish away!

We are here to take away all your worries by providing you with the complete step by step Guide to obtaining a tourist visa to India.

A. Covid Related Pre-Departure Protocols:

Fully vaccinated nationals, whose nations are exempted from RTPCR, test before entering India. See Image 01.

Nationals of all countries not listed in point 1 need to undertake an RT PCR test 72 hours prior to departure for India (See Image 01 above)

Nationals covered in both points 1 and 2 need to upload their vaccinated certificate or a negative RTPCR test report on the online air Suvidha Self declaration form https://www.newdelhiairport.in/covid19.

The negative RTPCR report needs to upload within 72 hours of departure for India.

B.  E-Visa :

 The application for a tourist e-visa can be submitted at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html .  The EVisa for India is currently available for citizens of 169 countries. This means that many travellers can easily obtain the necessary entry authorization to visit India.

The government has notified these countries as eligible for tourist e-visas (See Image 02). This is a dynamic list and it is expected that more countries would be added to this list in the near future.

C.  Paper visa: 

 In case, your country is not mentioned above in the listed countries eligible for tourist e-visas, you simply need to apply at the Indian embassy, High Commission or consulate office near you or through any of their designated agents. You would receive detailed guidance from the said office.

D.  Flights - Good news! The government Of India has decided to lift the ban on scheduled overseas commercial flight. Scheduled international flights will be able to arrive in and depart the country from March 27, according to India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

This will be the first time in nearly two years that many major airlines will be able to operate to India after the country restricted air travel and moved to an air bubble agreement model in a bid to limit the spread of Covid-19. (See Image 04)

E. Pre-departure information you need to bear in mind before applying for the Indian tourist Visa.  

The Tourist Visa to India is currently available in following categories:

1.   30-Day e-Tourist visa for India

Travellers can apply for a one-month e-Tourist visa for India.

The one-month e-Tourist visa is valid for 30 days from the date of arrival in India.

It is a single-entry visa, the date of entry must be between the visa’s issue and expiry dates.

2.   One-year e-Tourist visa for India

The one-year tourist visa for India is valid for 365 days from the visa issue date.

The applicant bearing the One-year visa can make multiple entries in India. The duration of stay  that a foreign national can stay in India is maximum 90 days per visit except for citizens of the USA and Japan. For the citizens of the USA and Japan the maximum number of days shall not exceed 180 days.

3.   Five-year e-Tourist visa for India

 The 5-year visit visa is a tourist visa granted to foreign nationals who wish to visit India for continuous trips, which is valid for 5 years

The applicant bearing the 5-year visa can make multiple entries in India. The maximum number of days that a foreign national can stay in India is 90 days per visit except for citizens of the USA and Japan. For the citizens of the USA and Japan the maximum number of days shall not exceed 180 days.
