After breakfast, we will drive to Pragpur.
Upon arrival, check into Hotel Judges Court.
The Judge’s Court, considered as one of best and magnificent country hotels in India.A large splendid Country Manor (specifically designed in the Indo-European tradition) offers elegant accommodation and hospitality. The hotel, situated at the heart of the medieval hamlet of Pragpur, is a three hundred and fifty year old ancestral haveli. It is situated at an altitude of about 2000 ft. from the main Kangra Valley. The Judge’s Court is located in some eight acres of land and has a fairly eclectic character about it. The structure supports rammed-earth walls standing strong with the Lakhori bricks adding more to its local flavor. Its floor plan follows the layout of a colonial bungalow with some unique Saracen and local embellishments.
Afternoon, we will do a walking exploration of the Himalayan heritage. You will fall in love with the village of Pragpur. Notified as the country’s first heritage village, Pragpur retains its unique character of heritage buildings thereby offering an uninhibited view of Himalayan rural heritage. The village was established in the late 16th century by the Kuthialasoods in memory of Princess Prag Dei of the Jaswan Royal family. Due to its unique architecture and heritage significance, the state government of Himachal Pradesh declared Pragpur as the country’s first Heritage Village in December 1997. Garli a nearby village is also a part of the Heritage Zone. Houses are built in different architectural styles comprising Kangra, Rajput, British, Portuguese and even Italian styles of architecture.

Afternoon is at leisure. We recommend that you walk and take in the heritage of this living museum. Most of the buildings of the twin villages Pragpur-Garli boast of mud-plastered walls, wooden carved attics, elegant tile work, stained glass windows, slate-roofed houses and antique collections. All these buildings remain well preserved due to the efforts of the local people and panchayts of Pragpur and Garli.
Besides, The Judge’s Court, another major charm of the place is “The Chateau Garli” a heritage property, built in 1921 that has been restored to its age old glory by carefully recreating the colonial, Portuguese, Mughal, Rajasthani and Kangri architectural influences.
Also, at Pragpur – Garli villages are a perfect example of the cultural heritage of the Himlayan villages. The famous Kangra school of Painting has its base here in Pragpur. It is here that one can explore local crafts and immerse in the amiable heritage sensation of the area.

We would visit the Dalai Lama’s Palace and temple in the afternoon and meet with the spiritual leaders to know more about the plight of Tibetans, their future, the problems they face in India etc. If the Dalai Lama is there in Dharamshala at the same time as we are, every effort would be made to have a personal audience with him, the Tibetan Buddhism’s deity of Universal Compassion. It is special meeting him, not because of his title or the high degree of reverence that the people of Tibet hold him in; but more because how it feels in his company. Several strong impressions remain about the meeting, including the way in which he gives his whole attention to questions. There is wisdom in his thinking which comes through clearly in his words, filled asthey are with common sense and realism. His firm handshake, his sense of compassion, his sense of humour, his highly infectious and kind laughter are some of the everlasting images of the Dalai Lama.
